Our Story

Once upon a time, Joel got a JOB working the summer as a painter. He painted his way through high school, college and graduate school. He couldn’t wait to finish painting so he could get started in his CAREER. He worked hard for 20 years in college, grad school and the mental health and nonprofit fields. He started a community counseling center and a private practice. But something wasn’t quite right... Painting and beautifying spaces kept coming back around. It turns out he preferred working with his hands to working at a desk. Starting with his own home in south St. Louis, and continuing with friends and family’s homes, he enjoyed coming alongside others to make PLACES BEAUTIFUL. And several friends with painting experience joined him. It turns out all those years in leadership and team-building in the nonprofit field was a huge help for building a team around shared values and relationships. In 2015 PAINT THE EARTH began.

(And that summer job as a painter? Joel’s former boss Paul was ready to retire and sell his company, MUSTARD SEED CONTRACTING, to his former employee). In 2018, Mustard Seed and Paint the Earth joined as one company.

Your Story

Or you hired a painter to spruce things up; but it just didn’t turn out right. And now you are ready for a change! Your home’s color affects your mood and your willingness to invite friends and family to your place. As hard as you try, you just don’t love it the way it looks and the way it makes you feel. It looks tired. It looks dated. And it matters to you! So much, you’re willing to pay a professional to help you to make it right. The good news is that Paint the Earth is here for you! We want to come alongside you, to listen to you and your hopes for your home, and to help you to make your home BEAUTIFUL. We want you to be proud when you invite friends and family over for a meal. We want you to feel at peace when you are resting and playing in your home.

We take preparation seriously. We want to make sure your home’s aesthetic is beautiful. Whether it’s properly masking your furniture and floors, taping baseboards, patching and sanding damaged walls or caulking gaps we will be sure to prep the project correctly before painting. Proper preparation is a major step in our process of making your home beautiful.

✔ Paint

Our vast knowledge of painting materials and our experience working with many types and qualities of paint is your resource in helping you to find the right product for the job. We also use time tested techniques such as brushing, rolling and spraying to produce the finish that you are looking for. Whether it’s interior or exterior painting we know the correct products and techniques to get the job done right.

✔ Perfect

At the end of each job we do a thorough walkthrough with you to make sure that everything is completed and up to the proper standards. We strive to make sure that the work we’ve done is of the quality that you desire. And if you discover areas that aren’t up to your quality standards we will return and make the job right free of charge.
